Arrowtown
Located in Central Otago, South Island of New Zealand, Arrowtown was established as a gold mining town during the gold rush of 1862. At its very height, Arrowtown was home to more than 7,000 people. Today Arrowtown remains a treasure in its own right, retaining an ambience sought after by visitors and residents alike. It is one of four heritage towns in New Zealand, with its development carefully controlled and structured by Town Planning to retain its special qualities. And it’s easy to see why with its breathtaking scenery and four very distinct seasons.

Being at the heart of the Southern Lakes ski areas, crisp winter days make Arrowtown the perfect winter getaway, spring skiing and picturesque tours or just plain relaxation during the hot summer months. And not forgetting autumn, the most spectacular season for Arrowtown with its vibrant and stunning colour palette.

Arrowtown’s main street has a plethora of shops featuring mainly New Zealand product and the café culture is alive and well with a great variety of restaurants to choose from. Just a short walk away from the main street is the Arrow River, once famed for it’s abundance of gold and now a wonderful place to take a stroll. Arrowtown was also the venue for a number of scenes in the Lord of the Rings trilogy of movies, however above all it’s just an interesting and exciting place to visit, with a distinct flavour of its own.
